Information Sessions are of most benefit to those considering intercountry adoption who have not yet begun the adoption assessment with their Local Authority or Voluntary Adoption Agency. The days are open to anyone and you do not have to be referred by your Local Authority or Independent Adoption Agency, although if your adoption agency is a subscriber to IAC you will benefit from a concessionary rate for the session.
It is most beneficial if both partners attend if you are applying jointly to adopt. Single applicants may find it helpful to bring a friend or family member with them too.
If you are adopting through Intercountry Adoption Centre then you will be required to attend an Information Session prior to requesting an initial interview with a social worker.
The session offers an informal setting in which to explore the procedures, issues and challenges involved in intercountry adoption in the company of other prospective adopters. If you are not adopting through IAC, This is intended to supplement the consultation and advice available through your local authority or independent adoption agency. Country Workshops which run periodically are a further way to add to your knowledge.
Usually twice monthly at IAC’s Training Room in Barnet.
Upcoming dates are - February 13th and 27th, March 9th and 24th, April 7th and 21st.
If your Local Authority or Independent Adoption Agency Subscribes to IAC then the cost will be £135.96 per person. If they do not then it will be £225.72 per person. To find out which cost applies to you please call the advice line.
Prior to booking on an information session please speak to the advice line. They will be able to:
Send you an Assessment Information Pack if you reside in a Local Authority with whom IAC has a Service Level Agreement.
Provide guidance on how to research the ‘eligibility criteria’ of overseas countries as there will be a limited time to discuss individual countries at the Information Session;
Advise you on the residency requirements and the intercountry adoption process in the UK
To book on an information session please send the following details to firstname.lastname@example.org and Grace will get back to you with details about arranging payment.

Full names of applicants
Where you would like to adopt from –(if known)
