Regionalising Adoption

We are delighted that IAC has been awarded a government grant to research the possibility of adoption agencies coming together to provide one intercountry adoption service for the whole of England. This will be concerned with the needs of children waiting overseas for a family through intercountry adoption and looked after children who leave the England to go to live permanently with relatives abroad.

The Central Authority of India, CARA issued new guidelines in July 2015 which came into effect on August 1st 2015. The key difference from the previous guidelines is that CARA is now holding a list of children available for intercountry adoption and is pre matching two children with prospective waiting adopters. Information is shared on line with the registration agency and prospective adopters’ dossiers are only provided to the India Specialised Adoption Agencies ( previously known as Recognised Indian Placement Agencies) once the adopters have selected a child from the pre matching information.

Domestic Adoption Information Sessions

We have currently suspended our recruitment for Domestic Adoption. Therefore no Domestic Information Sessions are planned for the foreseeable future.

A new look and focus for IAC

IAC is delighted to launch its new website and logo in recognition of the fact that it is now operating in the field of domestic adoption in addition to continuing to offer its established intercountry adoption services. The agency name also reflects this change as we are no longer Intercountry Adoption Centre, but ‘IAC, The Centre for Adoption.’

Domestic Adoption

IAC is the largest intercountry adoption centre in the UK. Since 2012 it has brought this expertise to UK domestic adoption as well.
