Returning Adopters

IAC welcomes returning adopters to adopt with us again whether you have adopted with us or another adoption agency. No matter whether you have adopted in the UK or another country, IAC strives to place children with the right families. There are thousands of children looking for adoptive families and we work hard to ensure we place them with loving homes, no matter whether you are returning to the same country of origin. We know the adoption process can be difficult for many families, which is why we are here to support you in the process and help you adopt again.

We provide adoption support for returning adopters when your last child has been living with you for at least 12 months and you have either a UK recognised adoption order or an adoption order made in the UK. We can also provide support for returning adopters when your youngest child in the family will be at least 2 years older than the child you are hoping to adopt. There are some exceptions to these requirements if you are planning on adopting a birth relative to your adopted child or a relative of your own.

The adoption process for returning adopters can in some cases be fast-tracked, but this will depend on the circumstances of your first adoption. We will discuss with you whether you can be fast tracked through stages 1 and 2 of the adoption process. This will depend entirely on your first adoption though and you may still need to complete each step of the process in some circumstances. We can offer training and support if you do need to go through the full process again however. If you have adopted with IAC before you may be assigned the same social worker but this will depend entirely on what is best for the child and your family.

If you are a returning adopted the most popular way to get in touch is through our enquiry form, but alternatively, you can call our advice line on 020 8447 4753.
