Along the parenting journey, having additional support can be invaluable, especially at the moment when we are already navigating so much uncertainty. We invite IAC parents to join us in July to connect with other adopters, share your experiences and to gain support with the range of issues that you might be experiencing.
If you are interested in joining us please contact Jessica Spenceley, who is our lead on Adoption Support at IAC. She can be reached at Jessica.Spenceley@icacentre.org.uk for joining details.
Having a sense of community with people who get what you are going through can make all the difference in the adoption process, especially when you are waiting for a child to join your family. The waiting involved can be tough, and to help make it a bit easier, IAC hosts virtual Coffee Mornings for Waiting Adopters.
These sessions are aimed at all of our adopters who are in the in-between time of having been approved to adopt and bringing their child home. These popular sessions are relaxed spaces where you can reconnect with other people in the same situation.
Perhaps you want to talk and vent; maybe you want to share your fears; perhaps you would like more information on specific issues like bonding or feeding. . . All of these topics and more are welcome in the group.
Coffee Mornings are hosted by Jessica and she will be supported by a member of the Post Approval Team.
We currently have the following days and times scheduled for our Coffee Mornings, and we would love to meet you online on:
If you are able to make it, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and details for the Zoom meeting will be sent.
You may also find that a Life Story Work Consultation is helpful as you navigate this area during your increased family time. Jessica is available to help you think about how you might like to build on the foundation you have already created, be it through introducing additional books, constructing themes around play, providing examples around how to phrase certain topics, and suggesting how you might answer some of the tougher questions that may leave you feeling stuck. She can be reached at Jessica.Spenceley@icacentre.org.uk for more details and booking.
